Project Name: Copper Sunset trading as Shazini Farm
Project Location: 3 Brookfield Road, Claridge, Albert Falls Dam
Project Background
Copper Sunset Trading 360 (Pty) Ltd trading as Shazini Farm has been formed as a Private Company in 2007. The project is 100% black female owned and was established with the main aim of becoming a commercial Goat Farm. The farm size is on a 126-ha demarcation of land.
At the point of approaching the ADA, the farm had been operating as a small-scale goat breeding farm which houses 150 goats. The aim of the business is to expand its current operation into goat feedlot as well as incorporate process and storage of feeds.
Copper Sunset wishes to change the perception of Goat Meat in KZN and in the industry at large. The project owner is passionate and is set on changing the narrative of goat meat to more than just for cultural use particularly in the Zulu Culture but rather meat that can be prepared and enjoyed by many. She identified a gap in the market for Goat meat as a healthier alternative. Currently, most of the goats consumed in KZN are imported from the Northern Cape and Namibia which Copper Sunset hopes to change.
