Ms Meryl-Lynne Colborne
Meryl-Lynne Colborne is a public sector leader, monitoring and evaluation specialist, and strategic planning practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in programme management, organisational performance, governance, and evidence-based decision-making.
She holds an undergraduate degree in Communication Science, an Honours degree in Public and Development Management, a Master of Public Administration, and a Master of Philosophy in Monitoring and Evaluation Methods (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University.
Meryl-Lynne began her career with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport, leading community-based road safety initiatives, before joining the KwaZulu-Natal Liquor Authority, where she managed social responsibility programmes focused on transformation, regulatory compliance, and sustainable industry development. During her tenure, she also served as Acting Executive Manager.
Her interest in measuring programme effectiveness led her to specialise in monitoring and evaluation. In 2019, she was awarded a scholarship by the South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA) as an Emerging Evaluator and subsequently transitioned into dedicated monitoring and evaluation and strategic planning roles within the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs. She later served as Principal Consultant at DNA Economics, leading monitoring and evaluation projects for public, private, donor-funded, and non-profit sector clients.
Her professional interests include leadership in public administration, organisational performance, governance, and the institutionalisation of monitoring and evaluation within the public sector. She is a member of the South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA) and the Golden Key International Honour Society.
Meryl-Lynne is committed to strengthening organisational performance, advancing accountability, and promoting evidence-based decision-making to improve public sector effectiveness and development outcomes.
